Texture ReSize

A utility to re-size master texture files for X-Plane

What is Texture ReSize

Texture ReSize is a tool for Laminar Research's X-Plane flight simulator. It is used to change the master texture size for objects version 2 (objects created for X-Plane versions 6.1 and above).

If you have ever tried to change the master texture's size because you needed to add another texture, you will know what this utility does:

  1. Open an existing object and load it's existing master texture
  2. Take the old master texture, and add white space to the right and/or bottom
  3. Make sure the texture size is legal for X-Plane
  4. Save the new master texture
  5. Re-calculate all texture rectangles from the object, and then save the updated object

In effect, it will save you a ton of work every time you've run out of white space on in your master texture and need to add another texture.

Using Texture ReSize

Texture ReSize is quite simple to use. Simply open any version 2 object with the "Convert..." item from the "File" menu. A dialog will pop up, keeping you up-to date while Texture ReSize attempts to read the object.

After successfully reading the object, Texture ReSize will attempt to load the master texture file. If it can't find it, it will ask you to locate it. Then Texture ReSize will display the texture, and let you add white space to the right and / or bottom. The dialog will reflect how much space you've added. Note that the dialog will not display the true texture sizes, but rather scale the master texture relative to the display rectangle, making the master texture appear distorted. This will not affect your master texture.

When you click "OK", first the new master texture, and then the updated object will be saved to disk.
